About the Artist

Born in Nicaragua and now living in Palm Bay, Florida, José Carlos Ruiz has developed a unique artistic voice that blends abstraction with recognizable forms. His work reflects his Latin American heritage while embracing contemporary expression. Rather than reproducing reality, ArtCocalo paints emotion, movement, and atmosphere. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, he layers texture, color, and light to create paintings that reveal something new each time they are viewed. Drawing inspiration from his daily surroundings and personal history, he uses color as a direct conveyor of emotion.
